Loving a Prodigal Free E-book Series
Each year, I write a weekly devotional in preparation for the annual Worldwide Prodigal Prayer Day on June 2. As I’ve read over these again, I realize how much I’ve gained from these studies. I want you to have a copy of these devotionals in FREE E-BOOKS I’ve published.
How do we keep loving as the years unfold? What does love look like when our prodigals keep making bad choices? We know that God’s love is truly radical and unconditional. Let’s challenge ourselves to live it out, even with our prodigals. Even though we can barely scratch the surface of God’s deep love and His call to us to love as Jesus loved, we can choose to intentionally focus on that love, to explore its descriptions and qualities in God’s Word, to understand more deeply what it means to love as Jesus has loved us.

It’s the waiting, isn’t it? So many times, many days, even many years, we struggle to accept, act on, live by, rest in—BELIEVE—that God’s timing is right. It seems too hard, too long, too uncertain. How long, Lord? Will it ever end? In this little E-book we will look at God’s perspective on time—for our prodigals, for us, for the Kingdom, for eternity. One verse has especially sustained me over these years: “I am the Lord. In its time I will do this swiftly.” (Isaiah 60:22b)

GRACE was my “word” in 2012 for the Worldwide Day of Prayer for Prodigals. God gives grace—for all our inadequacies and mistakes, and for the pain experienced by and caused by those we love so much. Let’s accept His amazing offer extended in our theme verse, Hebrews 4:16: “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

God says, “Take the day off.” He is a fan of rest! He calls all of us to rest—for our bodies, our minds, our emotions, our spirits. And if we love a prodigal, we are in even greater need of rest. Say yes to God’s invitation: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Jeremiah 6:16)
